Residents at the Good Shepard Nursing Home paved the way for a new sidewalk connecting their residence to a medical clinic a few blocks away. Without a safe travel route to and from the clinic, residents petitioned for a new sidewalk. With assistance from MoDOT’s Transportation Alternatives Program, the city and TREKK answered their wish.

TREKK provided survey, sidewalk design and ADA improvements, and storm drainage design for the new 1,175 foot sidewalk along Highway 97 and 12th Street. The project included approximately 475 feet of sidewalk along the north side of 12th Street, connecting the Good Shepard Nursing Home to Mercy Clinic, and an additional 700 feet of concrete sidewalk from 10th to 13th Street along the west side of Highway 97. We also provided inspection and concrete testing during construction.

Prior to this improvement, residents had to walk or travel by wheelchair along the roadway, including a section of Highway 97. Now they, and all Lockwood residents, can safely visit the clinic and enjoy the community around them.
